Armoza Launches New Israeli Drama For MIPTV

Armoza Formats has today announced the launch of a new drama, Muna, for MIPTV. Produced by Drama Team (Hostages), the series aired on Israel’s Kan in prime time and has been heralded by Israeli press as “one of the best original dramas in recent years”.

The story was created by the Palestinian-Israeli musician Mira Awad, inspired by her own controversial and challenging journey as Israel’s representative at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2009.

Muna (8x30’) follows the story of a successful and free-spirited Arab-Israeli photographer. Together with her Israeli boyfriend and her best friend, Muna has created a life for herself in Tel Aviv, far from the Arab village in which she grew up. But when she is chosen to represent Israel at a prestigious international photography exhibition, her traditional father sees this as a betrayal of her people and of her roots. Set in a time of war, when violence and conflict forces everyone to pick sides, Muna is torn between two worlds and must choose with whom her true loyalties lie. As all her relationships fall apart and both Israeli and Arab societies turn against her, will she choose to honor her heritage or follow her heart?

Armoza Formats is distributing the series as finished tapes and as a format.

Eldad Koblenz, CEO of Kan, Israel Public Broadcasting Corporation, “’Muna’ is an excellent example of Kan’s diverse and high-end content, which deals with complex and sensitive topics from all facets of Israel’s population. Kan invests millions of shekels per year in Israeli productions and reveals them on all it’s platforms on the radio, television and digitally.”

Avi Armoza, CEO of Armoza Formats, ‘Muna’ brings to the screen a unique truth behind one of the most complex conflicts in history and the way it impacts those involved. The high quality of the acting, writing and production, combined with Mira Awad’s compelling story, makes ‘Muna’ a one-of-a-kind drama and we are proud to be launching it to the global market.”
